Description
We leave Porto and travel via afurada (the fisherman's village in Gaia) on the scenic coastal road until we stop at Senhora da Pedra beach where the chapel is located. Senhora da Pedra is part of the town of Miramar
From there we depart to discover Costa Nova de Prada with it's cute striped houses close to Aveiro. The tallest (62m) lighthouse in Portugal and the second biggest in Europe is located nearby in the locality of Barra
Our last stop is in Aveiro also known as the Venice of Portugal. Aveiro is a city on the west coast of Portugal set along a lagoon called Ria de Aveiro. It's distinguished by its canals navigated by colorful boats (barcos moliceiros), traditionally used to harvest seaweed. Not far from its core, known for art nouveau buildings, is the Cathedral of Aveiro, with its prominent bell tower. The Museu de Aveiro, housed in a former convent, has a lavish tomb made of marble.
You can use this stopover for a lunch break or to visit the cathedral and museum or to go for a boat ride in the canals of aveiro before returning back to Porto
