Explore Portugal's rich history and cultural heritage with our exclusive tour of the cities of Braga and Guimarães. Get to know Braga, known as the ‘City of the Archbishops’, with its imposing churches, religious monuments and centuries-old traditions, and the world-famous Bom Jesus do Monte Shrine. In Guimarães, the ‘Cradle of the Nation’, relive the glorious past by visiting Guimarães Castle and walking through its historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We set off from Porto on a journey that will take you to discover two of the most emblematic cities in the north of Portugal. We start at the Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary, a Baroque jewel and UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you'll have time to explore the stunning gardens and stairways. We continue to the centre of Braga, where we'll take a 1-hour walking tour of the historic city centre, highlighting the Sé de Braga - the oldest cathedral in Portugal. After this visit, enjoy 1.5 hours of free time for lunch, where you can enjoy the local cuisine. In the afternoon, we set off for Guimarães, the cradle of Portugal. Here, on a 45-minute walking tour, we'll visit Guimarães Castle Park, the imposing Duques de Bragança palace and the historic Church of São Miguel do Castelo. The tour culminates at Largo da Oliveira, a charming medieval space in the heart of the historic centre, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
