Visit Fátima, the spiritual center known for Marian apparitions first reported on May 13, 1917. Explore the Sanctuary, Basilica, and the Chapel of the Apparitions, the exact site of the Virgin Mary’s appearance to three shepherd children.
In the afternoon, travel to Coimbra to discover its university district, Romanesque Old Cathedral, and historic center. The University of Coimbra, founded in 1290, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its Baroque Joanina Library. The Old Cathedral (Sé Velha), built in the 12th century, remains one of Portugal’s best-preserved Romanesque buildings with a fortress-like design.
