Description

Uncover the magic of Portugal’s Douro Valley on this experience designed for travelers who appreciate having free time to enjoy by themselves. Depart comfortably from Porto and enjoy a scenic drive through the rolling hills and terraced vineyards of the Douro Valley while your local guide shares stories and secrets of this UNESCO World Heritage region. Your first stop is a family-run boutique winery, where you’ll learn about the valley’s unique terroir and taste high-quality Port and DOC Douro wines in a warm, authentic setting (1h30 min). After the tasting, we will stop in Pinhão for 1h30 min. Here you will have the chance to take a 1h boat tour up and down the Douro River, or just wander around to explore the village and grab something to eat (time is short to have lunch at a restaurant and do the boat tour, so please choose wisely what you prefer to do. If you would prefer an all-inclusive tour, please check our other options). The next stop will be Peso da Régua, 30 minutes away from Pinhão on the National 222, considered one of the most beautiful roads in the world—30 minutes along the Douro River with vineyard terraces as a backdrop. Here, the stop will be for 1 hour, giving you enough time to explore a bit and eat something. After the magical drive and stops along the Douro Valley, it will be time to return to Porto (around 1h30 min), filled with wonderful flavors, stories, and memories.
