Description
Board a charming tourist train departing every 30 minutes from Sé Catedral, a Romanesque cathedral in Porto’s old city center. The train route circles the city center with multilingual audio guides in Portuguese, Spanish, French, English, and Italian.
The train stops at the historic Real Companhia Velha wine cellar, established in 1756 by King José I. Here, enjoy a 15-minute documentary about the history of Port wine and its notable wineries, followed by a tour of the cellar’s oldest sections. The visit includes a tasting of two premium Port wines.
After reboarding, the train continues past prominent monuments such as the São João National Theatre at Praça da Batalha, Avenida dos Aliados, São Bento Train Station with its detailed tile work, the baroque Clerigos Church Bell Tower, and the twin Carmelitas churches near the Leilo Bookshop and local cafés.
Upgrade your experience with lunch at Ruela da Villa, the restaurant of a 4-star hotel, offering a buffet of traditional Portuguese dishes and desserts. You may hop off and back on the train at the restaurant stop.
