Description
The Torre dos Clérigos, adjoining the baroque Igreja dos Clérigos, is one of Porto’s most iconic landmarks. It was designed by Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni, who influenced northern Portugal’s 18th-century architecture. Construction began in 1732 and was completed around 1750, with the monumental stairway added in the 1750s.
Visitors can climb the Bell Tower to enjoy views over Porto, then visit the exhibition space in the Clerigos Building. The exhibitions showcase 18th and 19th-century pieces including furniture, paintings, and vestments from the Irmandade dos Clérigos and Christus Collections.
