Indian Restaurants in Porto

Porto isn’t just about francesinha and fresh seafood. If you’re craving Indian food, there are some solid options sprinkled around the city that locals, including me, go back to again and again.

One of my favorites is Chutnify, right near Cedofeita. The vibe’s relaxed, and the dosas are spot on. Plus, their chutneys actually hit the mark, unlike so many places that just serve plain sauces. It’s casual but thoughtful cooking. Tandoori and curries are on point here if you want something familiar with a kick. Another place I like is Indian Aroma by Aliados,it’s small, with just a handful of tables, but the butter chicken there tastes like it came straight from Delhi’s streets, rich and creamy without being too heavy.

Here’s a tip: Indian food in Porto isn’t always super spicy, so if you’re used to a lot of heat, don’t be shy to ask for things hotter. And if you want a light evening meal, try the samosas at a local market stall in Bom Sucesso on the weekend , they’re not restaurants but a little pain au chocolat moment from another cuisine. Indian food here often flies a bit under the radar, but it’s definitely worth a shot if you’re wandering the city and want something different from the usual Portuguese fare.
